Shergold Guitars are Re-Born

Barnes & Mullins are pleased to announce the launch of Shergold Electric Guitars.

With a British legacy reaching back as far as 1968, Shergold Guitars enjoyed their heyday in the late 1970s and early 1980s when bands such as Genesis, New Order and Joy Division chose the guitars and basses as their go-to instruments.

Having purchased the dormant Shergold Guitar company in 2015, Barnes & Mullins have worked with luthier, Patrick James Eggle to re-invent the brand for the 21^st century.

The initial launch is based around a single Masquerader model shape, which is available with three pickup configurations and in four colour finishes. Made with a solid mahogany body, and featuring a solid rosewood neck and fingerboard, a custom-designed bridge and Patrick’s personal choice of genuine USA-made Seymour Duncan pickups, the 2017 Shergold Masquerader sets out its stall as a true rock guitar.

“My first proper guitar was a Shergold”, says Brian Cleary, B&M’s joint managing director, “so this project has great personal significance. However, I always knew that the re-born Shergold guitars couldn’t be retro re-issues. We had to bring something new and exciting to the guitar party. Although Patrick [Eggle] took inspiration from the original Shergold models, he has worked to design an all-new instrument with some truly excellent features.”
