Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne Opens Up on  New Album, 'The Terror -

There's a new album on the horizon for Oklahoma psych-rockers, The Flaming Lips. The band's eccentric frontman, Wayne Coyne has been discussing the new recording with Rolling Stone (via NME) .

Coyne explained that their new album, entitled 'The Terror,' was produced during a time that he and multi-instrumentalist bandmate Steven Drozd wish to forget. A time when Drozd, a longtime Lips member was gripped by the voice of a chronic drug addiction.

Coyne explained:

"It was probably the worst time of his (Drozd) life. I knew he was really, really struggling. He was in a bad way."

He went to explain how Drozd would isolate himself from his fellow bandmates, working in separate studios in order work on his own 'horribly creepy' music:

"He did this one piece of music and did lyrics, all these things. Not all the pieces were audible, but he had these things saying 'you are alone,' and then the other voice saying, 'I am not alone.' Back and forth between some horrible internal dialogue. It was truly devastating."

Drozd's contribution is set to features heavily on the new album, which is slated for an Autumn release.
