Black Sabbath named Most Important British Metal Act-
The almighty Black Sabbath have been unveiledas the most important hard rock & metal act, ever.
In a major poll carried out by record industry body the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) themetal-pioneers were crowned 'the most important hard rock actof all time.'
Black Sabbath, who have sold more than 70million records worldwide, picked up almost half of all votes (45%)in a poll of more than 3,600 hard rock / metal fans. IronMaiden and Led Zeppelin completed thetrio of the most respected British hard rock legends, each takingone fifth of the votes.
Commenting on the poll-topping news, BlackSabbath said,
"We are honoured and flattered to be acknowledged in a polllike this which is voted for by the fans. We thank you."
Metallica's '91 self-titled classic wasrevealed to be the album most metal fans would recommend as theideal introduction to the genre. The album has sold more than 30million copies globally and produced hits 'Enter Sandman'and 'Nothing Else Matters.'
The survey was carried out partly in conjunction with leadingpublications Kerrang! and Metal Hammer.
