US-20×20 – Flagship USB 20-channel audio interface

Tascam US 20x 20

Tascam has released the top model of the company’s latest series of USB audio interfaces. Designed for use in professional recording facilities or project studios, the US-20×20 (twenty-by-twenty) supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz and utilises USB 3.0, a leading-edge transmission standard.

With eight XLR/TRS inputs, two TRS inputs, multi-channel digital inputs via S/PDIF coaxial, and optical digital connectors, a total of 20 simultaneous inputs is possible when operating at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. When operating at 176.4 kHz or 192 kHz, up to 12 inputs and 12 outputs are possible. Tascam’s Ultra-HDDA mic preamps have an equivalent input noise (EIN) of –125 dBu. And 20 dB of headroom on the microphone and line inputs allow to easily handle high SPL transients from percussion and instruments. The interface offers an advanced DSP mixer including EQ, compression and reverb effects on each channel. Mode switching provides the options of using the US-20×20 as a standalone mic preamp, an audio interface, or as a mixer for sound reinforcement applications.

Complete connectivity to various types of audio equipment is achieved by utilising the analogue inputs and outputs, digital input and output via coaxial and optical connectors, MIDI, and word clock BNC connectors.

DP-24SD – Affordable 24-track Digital Portastudio

Tascam has introduced the DP-24SD, a 24-track Digital Portastudio that’s simple to use to keep musicians creative. The latest model in their line of Portastudios records to rugged, economical and expandable SD cards. Eight XLR mic inputs with phantom power provide enough preamps to record a full band. Up to eight tracks can be recorded simultaneously, and 24 tracks are available for playback and mixing.

Built into the DP-24SD are three types of effects. Up to eight dynamics effects can be used in any or all inputs during recording for polished-sounding tracks. A multi-effects processor provides amp simulation, delay, chorus, and more – ideal for using with the direct guitar input. And an adjustable reverb is available via send and return.

A colour LC display, channel control strip, and a range of effects make the DP-24SD the ideal production station for musicians, songwriters and other artists.
