Soundgarden have released the video for "Live To Rise," the band's first new song in 15 years. You can watch it below.

"Live to Rise" is the first single from the Marvel Music/Hollywood Records album Avengers Assemble, which will be released May 1. Tracks from Shinedown, Rise Against, Bush and Five Finger Death Punch are among the 14 cuts on the album.Soungarden -Avengers

"We've been hard at work on our new album, which will come out this Fall," said Soundgarden. "When the opportunity arose to write an original song for 'Marvel's The Avengers' film came our way, we thought it could be a cool match. We are excited to release our new song "Live To Rise", which is also the only new song in the film."

Frontman Chris Cornell says that although he's proud of "The Avengers" cut, the track is nothing like what Soundgarden will churn out for their upcoming new album. "The hard part of writing a song for a film is it has to act as a Soundgarden song, first and foremost, then obviously, it has to coexist with the film," Soundgarden singer-songwriter Chris Cornell told Billboard. "It sounds kind of stripped down and more streamlined than a lot of other songs we've been writing, but if you take any song out of context, from any one of our albums, going all the way back to our first Sub Pop EP, it's not going to tell you anything about the songs around it. We're just that way. This would fit on our record … but if there's a way that it stands apart, this is fairly rhythmically straightforward."

Cornell also insisted that Soundgarden's reformation wouldn't taint their previous work. "'[It's] adding to what I believe is an important legacy, as opposed to when a band gets together and if they make new music it doesn't add to anything, it just sort of subtracts," he said. "It's, in a sense, borrowing from a great legacy to go out and make money and have something to do. This is not that."

The soundtrack is currently available on iTunes, and the movie reaches theaters on May 4.
