Proel Launches Acus in UK and Ireland -

Proel has announced the launch of a brand new range of professional quality electro-acoustic guitar amplifiers from audio specialist Acus.

Handmade in Italy by a company that has been designing high quality amplification for other brands for 15 years, Acus promises to set new standards of price and performance, bringing the finest acoustic instrument reproduction within reach of all serious players.

Housed in birch plywood bass reflex enclosures, bi-amplified throughout the range, Acus combos come in 50W, 100W and 200 Watt versions and feature high quality woofers in 5", 6" and 8" sizes plus compression tweeters with an electronic crossover.

Special consideration has been given to the unique demands of an amplified acoustic instrument, resulting in the use of specially developed 'audiophile' quality drivers with custom ultra lightweight cones and soft suspension to enhance the natural attack and transience produced by these instruments.

The unique Acus mixer stage is analogue and the amplifier's slew rate, like the choice of driver, has been chosen to enhance the quick attack demanded for the accurate reproduction of acoustic stringed instruments. The mixer circuitry throughout the range uses the highest quality transistors and input stages, coupled to a Class A output stages, designed to give the warm, faithful sound usually only achieved with valve amplifiers.

Constructionally, all Acus models benefit from the use of birch ply - slightly heavier but more durable and offering a superior sound quality to cheaply made substitutes.

The 50 Watt Acus One 5 features a single 5" speaker with a compression tweeter and offers three independently controllable channels, each with 3-Band EQ and Volume controls, 1x Micro + Line + Stereo-In, Gain control, Stereo-Out Gain control, Stereo-Out, Direct-Out/XLR, Phantom power, DSP-Hall, Ground-Lift switch and a Master Volume. It has an SRP of £434.40 inc VAT.

The 100 Watt Acus One 6  is similarly specified but features a 6" speaker and will have an SRP of £586.80 inc VAT.

The 200 Watt Acus One 8 gains a Resonance filter, invaluable for controlling feedback from microphones and pickups alike and features an 8" speaker plus compression driver, four independently controllable channels (each with 3-Band EQ & Volume controls) and comes with eight digital effects, 2x Mic + Line + Stereo-In, Gain-control, Stereo-Out, Gain control, Stereo-Out, Direct-Out/XLR, Phantom power, Headphone out, Peak LED, Resonance Filter, Ground-Lift switch and Master Volume.
