NAMM 2013: Yamaha Announces Solid Koa A-Series Guitars

Yamaha has announced the release of two new models to complmentthe successful A-Series guitar line. The AK4 and the AC4Kfeature all-solid Hawaiian Koa back and sides, and a selectsolid Hawaiian Koa top.

PRESS RELEASE -  Yamaha adds the AK4 folkbody and the AC4K concert models to the hugely successful A-Seriesguitar line-up, with two limited edition issues constructed usingall-solid Hawaiian Koa back and sides, and a select solid HawaiianKoa top - only 100 of these special instruments have been createdfor worldwide sale.

Yamaha has also added stylish ebony tuners; abalone inlays andcomes loaded with the incredible S.R.T preamp/pickup system, whichalso includes mic modelling.

Featuring a slim neck profile with a rounded fretboard edge, theA-Series delivers ease and comfort, designed to be the workhorse ofthe performing and recording guitarist's arsenal, providing amemorable playing experience.

Focusing on every detail to create the feel and playabilitysought by today's acoustic-electric guitar player, Yamaha have alsoincreased its traditional string spacing and lowered the action toaccommodate today's varied playing styles. In addition, thesemi-open pore finish on the necks of the A-Series maintains thewood's feel, yet also enhances playability.

Tonally these guitars do not disappoint, Koa's natural punch andclarity are evident in both folk and concert models and feature thenew S.R.T. (Studio Response Technology) electronics developed byYamaha.

The new S.R.T. preamp is an exclusive Yamaha technology, lettingplayers choose from three different mic settings that can beblended with the piezo pickup, delivering on the often-elusivedream of providing studio-quality sound while playing live onstage.
