Fender endorsee, John Mayer, has parted ways with the iconic US guitar manufacturer, using twitter to announce his decision in the most diplomatic of ways.

Mayer's love affair with Fender began following the purchase of a used SRV Signature Stratocaster he bought bu saving money he earned by working at a gas station.  Now though, the Fender/Mayer relationship looks to be over.

Here's what was Tweeted:

@JohnMayer

Heads up to anyone thinking about owning my signature @Fender Stratocaster, they’re no longer being made and I’m no longer a Fender artist.

@JohnMayer

I love Fender guitars and will continue to play them, but the fact is that the company as it is today isn’t the same one I started with.

In 2005, Fender introduced the John Mayer Signature Stratocaster featuring custom-spec “Big Dipper”, if you've ever thought of buying one then you should do while you still can.
