J Mascis Reveals He Could Have Joined Nirvana, Twice-

Dinosaur Jr frontman, JMascis has revealed that he was offered the chance to joinNirvana, not once, but twice.

Mascis was speaking with Spin when he explained how he missed the opportunity of playingwith the legendary outfit as both guitarist and drummer in the late80's and early 90's.

"Nirvana was playing Maxwell's and after the show I wastalking to Kurt and [Sonic Youth's] Thurston Moore," Mascistells Spin - referring to Nirvana's date at the iconic New Jerseyvenue.

"Kurt said, 'you should join my band.' I think he was sick ofthe guy Jason [Everman] who was in the band at the time, andthought I should play guitar. I didn't think much about it. Later,there was also talk of playing drums on a single [1990's 'Sliver']they were doing, but it ended up being [Mudhoney drummer] DanPeters."

Jason Everman was a brief member ofNirvana in 1989 and is credited on the band'sdebut album 'Bleach'.
