(PRESS RELEASE): Blending thermionic valve technology from the 50's, with modern day technology for high quality audio and reliability, brings forth the new Howling Wolf 5/15, a switchable 5 -15 watt, class AB workhorse guitar combo, powered by a duet of EL84 valves, that's perfect for both the studio, and the average size gig.
The 5/15 is totally hand built from the ground upwards in the UK by this British company, whose team of professional electronic engineers not only wind the transformers in-house, but also have a serious passion for innovative design and an obsessive attention to quality, within construction and sound.
Lowered powered guitar combos are as popular as ever, ideal for the studio but often lacking when it comes to enough clean headroom for live work. It's here that the 5/15 excels with its switchable outputs, working harder on the lower 5watt setting for earlier crunch and overdrive sounds, whilst the 15watt output offers clear, glassy chimes at higher volumes and effortlessly enters cutting crunch and overdrive rock territory, via the Volume, Master, Gain and Drive controls and a very handy Low Level Clip button.
With a 5 band EQ and Presence rotaries, the versatility and sonic possibilities of the 5/15 are stunning, ideal for all genres of music from country, blues to rock, voiced via an internal Celestion Vintage 12in speaker.
The 5/15's amplifier chassis is a solid steel affair, top loaded with front facing controls and the livery and control panel engraved in brushed gold laminate. This is recessed within the dove-tail constructed open-back cabinet, where Howling Wolf offer a choice of the finest handpicked, exotic woods, with each individual grain pattern visible through a lacquered finish of the highest standard.
These exceptional handpicked timbers include solid pine, tulip wood, rare American red cherry, American white oak and American black walnut, offset by brassprotective corner pieces, a handmade stitched leather strap handle and vintage themed brown/gold speaker grill cloth.
Some guitarists indentify tone, volume and headroom as their number one priority when talking about their favourite amp, others simply claim the aesthetics of a boutique amp are their first precedence...The British built Howling Wolf 5/15 does it all.
