Gordon Giltrap to receive New Year's Royal recognition

Master guitarist, and fundraiser, Gordon Giltrap, is to be made an MBE in the New Year's Honours list, for services to music and charity.

Gordon received a letter in November 2018 informing him of the Palace's intention to recognise his 50 year music career, as well as his efforts to raise money for Birmingham Hospitals Charity.

The Vintage and Fret-King signature artist said “I can't begin to tell you how thrilled and honoured I am to be receiving an MBE. Much of the credit must go to my dear friend and fellow Vintage endorsee Carrie Martin. Unbeknownst to me, Carrie has worked tirelessly for two and half years to make sure this all came to fruition.”

Gordon will be officially bestowed with the title of Member of the British Empire in the Royal Investiture ceremony this February.

Speaking of a musical career which began in the 1960s, Gordon said “I'm just a kid from Deptford who left school at 15 and eventually followed my dream.”

Gordon's latest signature acoustic guitar, the Vintage VE3000MGG (pictured) will make its debut at NAMM 2019. giltrap.co.uk
