Deep Purple Confirmed To Play Wacken Open Air 2013

Deep Purple have been confirmed to play at Germany's Wacken OpenAir Festival in 2013.

Though the world is still mourning the death of Jon Lord,the music he helped to create continues to reverbarate in venuesacross the globe. It's been 7 years since the band released theirlast album of new material but Deep Purple's current line-up madeup of original member Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, SteveMorse and keyboardist Don Airey, who replaced Lord in 2002, havebeen booked to play at next year's Wacken Open Air Festival inGermany.

As the 2012 Wacken Open Air drew to a close, organizersreleased details on some of the confirmed artists for 2013,including the first-ever appearance by  DeepPurple. Also confirmed at next year's event are Anthrax, Nightwish,Arch Enemy and Doro. You can watch the trailer below.

Deep Purple are currently in the studio in Nashville working ona new album.

"We're producing an album with Bob Ezrin, who's doneKISS,Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Alice Cooper, and he also worked on thelast Kansas album, when I was withKansas," guitaristSteve Morse told Glide magazine recently. "So he'sone of my favorite producers and that's going to be our studioalbum. It's probably going to be more of an extravaganza."

Purple's last studio album as 2005's "Rapture Of TheDeep."
