Isle Of Wight Festival Honour Jimi Hendrix with World Record Attempt

The Isle Of Wight Festival paid a fitting tribute to Jimi Hendrix at the weekend with a world record attempt to achieve the highest number of people wearing face masks.

IOW was the last British gig Jimi Hendrix played before his untimely death in 1970 and during Saturday's record attempt the promoters went one further by announcing that the main stage has been renamed Electric Church, paying homage to the left handed guitar icon.

Those who weren't already at the stage at the stage in anticipation flooded over with their Jimi Hendrix masks on to be part the record.

Festival boss John Giddings was on stage to witness the bizarre scene and announced the renaming of stage to Electric Church.
