On Saturday 12th April 2014 the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in association with the Wembley Music Centre will offer free music lessons for all ages at the renowned London music store.
National Learn to Play Day, which was set up by Music for All in partnership with the Musicians Union, MusicTeachers.co.uk, Art’s Council England, Take it Away and MusicRadar.com, is an initiative to encourage more people to take up an instrument by providing people of any age an opportunity to engage in a free music lessons. Shops all over the country will be opening their doors for the day and offering complimentary lessons in a wide range of instruments.
This year the Institute is partnering with the Wembley Music Centre, which incorporates four specialist stores under one roof, covering guitar, keyboards, PAs, drums and percussion, the school hopes to significantly increase its opportunity to promote music education.
Four of the Institute’s most highly acclaimed tutors, all of which are active professional musicians, will be offering taster sessions in Electric/Acoustic Guitar, Drums, Bass and Vocals, alongside solo and group performances. Institute students will also be on hand to assist with the teaching, and provide entertainment throughout the day.
The event will run from 11.00am to 4:00pm, at the centre near Wembley Park Station, and participants will be able to take advantage of special Learn To Play Day discounts on instruments/equipment in the store and part-time courses at the Institute. There will also be a raffle to raise money for Music For All, with prizes including a guitar and bass from WMC, and a free part time course at the Institute, as well as smaller prizes through out the day.
