Chris Cornell Misery Chain feat on ’12 Years a Slave’ Film Score -

Chris Cornell’s solo effort, ‘Misery Chain’ is set to be released as part of the film score to the recently released pre-Civil War film ’12 Years a Slave.’

The film, which is based on the true story of Solomon Northrup, stars Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbener and  was released on October 18th/

The soundtrack for the film, which asides from Cornell also features Hans Zimmer, John Legend and the Alabama Shakes, will be released digitally on November 5 before the physical release lands on November 19.

I was moved by this film and the story in a way that transcends any film experience I have ever had,” says Cornell.

I was inspired to write a hundred different songs, but finally landed on one based on what I believe is an extremely important message I took from this man’s journey. Compassion, basic human rights and love must be our priorities above race, religion or commerce. Every generation needs a reminder of that simple idea.”

‘12 Years a Slave’ premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on August 30 before screening at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, the Philadelphia Film Festival on October 19, and New York Film Festival in October.
