The Waterboys Announce US Dates

The Waterboys Announce US Dates -

The Waterboys are to head out on a North America 'coast-to-coast' tour marking the band's first full US tour since 2007.

The newly announced tour is set to kick off in Boston on Sept.19 and finish up in Massachusetts the following month on Oct.24, with eight shows scheduled and further additional dates to be announced soon.

The band's chief songwriter and founder, Mike Scott has promised the tour will be "the longest Waterboys American tour ever."

Scott will be joined on the North American jaunt by longtime Waterboys fiddler Steve Wickham and a new batch of "hand-picked" bandmates, who are: Jay Barclay (guitar), Malcolm Gold (bass), Daniel Mintseris (keyboards) and Chris Benelli (drums).

On Facebook, Scott wrote:

"North America is just about my favorite place in the world to play and I'm thrilled that this year we'll play more concerts there than any year of the Waterboys' existence. Our fall 2013 tour is the longest Waterboys American tour ever and we're doing it with an American line-up. Apart from myself and fiddler Steve Wickham, all the band members are Americans based in the New York area, players I handpicked myself. I can't wait to see what kind of a joyful, wild noise we'll make."
