Stone Temple Pilots Show Scott Weiland the Exit, according to Slash

Stone Temple Pilots 'Fire' Scott Weiland, according to Slash -

Stone Temple Pilots have sacked their frontman Scott Weiland, according  to Slash, who believes this to be the main reason behind Weiland talking up a potential Velvet Revolver reunion.

Earlier this year Weiland, who returned to the outfit in 2008 after being dismissed by his Velvet Revolver bandmates, performed with VR at a charity show for the family of a close friend, which subsequently led to Weiland claiming the band had begun writing new material.

However, on hearing the news Slash said frankly,

"He's out of his mind."

Asked by radio station 93X why Weiland recently said the time was right to get back with VR, the guitarist explains:

"That's because he got fired from STP."

He continues:

"these things always catch me by surprise too - I always find out about it through the media and I'm on the road in another country. I start hearing all this stuff and then I inquire within, and that's what I was told."

In Issue 11 of Guitar Interactive Magazine Gi's Jamie Humphries met Slash for an exclusive interview in which he discussed his most recent album release, 'Apocalyptic Love.' We also feature an in-depth Slash-inspired masterclass in which we demonstrate how you can nail that Slash-signature tone at an affordable price.
