Beatles Turntable Sells for Over $1,500 at eBay Auction

Beatles Turntable Sells for Over $1,500 at eBay Auction -

A novelty Beatles record player, which doesn't even play records, from 1964 has just sold on eBay for $1580,00.

The vintage turntable, which was listed for $9.99, record platter still spins at the appropriate speed however when records are played the only audio that can be heard is a low buzz. The seller of the turntable believes that the problem is with the needle.

The four-speed NEMS player is considered by Beatles collectors as highly sought after as there were only 5,000 manufactured at the time, so to find one in such good condition is a rarity.

Similar the size of to a small travel suitcase, the 17.5 x 10 x 6 casing was originally designed with metal latches and a carry handle. It was packaged in a very colourful 20 x 11 x 7 box but only a few are known to exist and the seller makes no mention. The fab four photo is featured on the inside lid and appears to be in good condition.
