Perhaps one thing that makes these Mayson acoustic’s unique is their ‘Smart Concept’ idea where they have put their own spin on taking old luthier skills and mixing them with the accuracy and consistency of today’s modern luthier skills with high tech machinery.

In this edition of Guitar Interactive Magazine's quietroom, Sam Bell takes a look at the Mayson Guitars D1/S acoustic. This guitar is highly affordable, looks great and has some truly unique features, so let’s dive in.
This dreadnought shape acoustic guitar features an Engelmann spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with an Indian rosewood fingerboard. The finish over the guitar body is glossy with a transparent pickguard and Indian rosewood bridge. There are no electronics on this particular model, however on the website, it says you can get the same model with the ‘Mayson MPC – 6 Pureacoustics’ electronics fitted.
Perhaps one thing that makes these Mayson acoustic’s unique is their ‘Smart Concept’ idea where they have put their own spin on taking old luthier skills and mixing them with the accuracy and consistency of today’s modern luthier skills with high tech machinery. Because of this there are some classic build features, some which you can see, some which you can’t see that go into building the guitars. Areas like the guitar neck to body connection and design, recessed machine heads, longitudinal bracing and much more. For further info you can check out the details of their Smart Concepts that can be found on all their guitars on the website.
For the price point and build, this guitar has a good sound. Full Chords resonate nicely, single note lines pop out and there is quite a present woody tone when playing softer. The playability is pretty good straight out the bag as well, the neck is quite thin for an acoustic which makes bar chords and intricate playing easier. I’d say that this is an all-around good acoustic guitar for the price point, it also comes with a nice padded gig bag and guitar humidification system which is a nice touch! Well worth checking out!
