Kay Vintage Reissue Series: Thin Twin ElectricGuitar -

First introduced in 1952, the six string, Kay Thin Twin ElectricGuitar, was an instant hit with blues players in the Chicago area,and soon became known as the Jimmy Reid or Howlin' Wolf model, andto this day, remains a favourite by many guitarists, sessionplayers and collectors.

During the 1950's and 60's, the Kay Musical Instrument Companysold guitars in enormous quantities, fuelling teenage fantasiesaround the world, and in hindsight, are arguably accountable forsingle-handedly creating the vast America guitar market.

Built as close as possible to the original specifications, theKay Vintage Reissue Series feeds the lust for collectors andplayers of all ages, offering an opportunity to own an authenticrepresentation of one of the world's most popular instruments inthe history of the electric guitar.

The Kay Thin Twin Electric Guitar features the same distinct,single cutaway, triple-chambered hollow body design. Maple isemployed maple for the arched back, sides and 3 ply flamed top,offset with multi-ply checkerboard celluloid binding.

The Thin Twin got its name from its two Blade pickups, known fortheir distinctive clean, sharp, sustaining sound and, with its owninterior special feedback-resistant bracing, was the first guitarable to create that bluesy raw, with a clean natural distortionwithout feedback.

The same bracing system and pickups in chrome covers are alsoincluded within the Vintage Reissue Series, with individual volumeand tone controls, and a 3-way bat-style selector switch. Hardwareincludes individual chromed saddle-style mounted bridge with heightadjustments, and a chrome trapeze tailpiece. The one-piece,Canadian maple set neck features a 20 fret, bound rosewoodfingerboard, with pearloid block position markers.

A far cry from just another mass produced vintage lookingguitar, the Kay Vintage Reissue Series successfully duplicates theoriginal 50's models, within feel, playability and the legendaryKay sound. Complete with the company's gold chevron, flagshipheadstock design, displaying 3-D raised "Kel-von-a-tor" styleemblem, to this day, the Kay Thin Twin Electric Guitar is probablyone of the coolest looking guitars ever made.
