Iron Maiden Awarded 02 Silver Clef Award for 2015

Iron Maiden have been awarded the 2015 02 Silver Clef Award for their "outstanding contribution to UK music".  

Frontman Bruce Dickinson, guitarist Adrian Smith and Janick Gers accepted the award on behalf of the heavy metal godfathers at Nordoff Robbins 40th anniversary gala in London on Friday.

"Nordoff Robbins is an exceptional charity and their dedication to changing people's lives through music therapy is something we all very much support. We're extremely proud to receive the O2 Silver Clef Award and be part of the 40th anniversary event celebrating this wonderful achievement" - said the group.

Now in its 40th year, the Silver Clef Awards  have raised over $8.5 million to fund Nordoff Robbins work in the field of music therapy. Previous winners include Jimmy Page, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, Genesis and Queen.

In related news Iron Maiden are set to release their 16th studio album and also their first-ever double studio album, entitled "The Book of Souls", on September 4th via Parlophone.
