The Black Cat Vibe was the flagship of the original Black Catproduct line. It garnered a reputation among many as the bestBlacksamll Univiberecreation ever made, and can still be found in the rigs of manywell-known players. Now Black Cat tell us a new version called the'Back Cat Vibe' is on it's way. Watch the demo below

Black Cat Pedals say:

We've taken every measure to ensure that the new Black Cat Vibewill sound identical to its legendary predecessor. In addition,we've incorporated some improvements that will allow each unit tobe more durable, reliable and consistently produced than theoriginals.

How much does it cost?
The new Black Cat Vibe will retail for $334.95 USD. The originalsold for $399 (plus $50 to add an expression jack). So the newBlack Cat Vibe actually costs $64.05 less than the original andcomes already equipped with the expression jack to control thespeed. (You can use a standard expression pedal, such as RolandEV-5 or Moog EP-2).

Does it have the flashing light thingy inside?
Yes, the Black Cat Vibe is a real authentic vibe, based on theoriginal Univibe made famous by Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, andDavid Gilmour. It uses a flashing lamp and four photocells tocreate its distinctive sound. The Black Cat Vibe also uses anotherlamp for the indicator, whereas most other Univibe based effectsuse an LED.

Is this the same as the original Black Cat Vibe made by FredBonte?
Well, obviously it looks different. But yes, the circuit is thesame as the original Black Cat Vibe. In fact, we auditioned severaloriginal Black Cat Vibes, picked the sweetest sounding one andreverse engineered it to create the new Black Cat Vibe. And it usesa 12V AC power supply, just like the original. The new Black CatVibe ships with its own 12V AC adapter (USA 120V AC only at thistime).

Are there any demos of the new Black Cat Vibe?
Well, we do have this (very) rough demo we made onYouTube. It's just a quick, off-the-cuff clip that shows aworking prototype in the new enclosure. We'll do a nice videopresentation as soon as we can, but this should help give a generalidea of what the new Black Cat Vibe will be like.
