The script for the newly conceived biopic has already been readby Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey with both ready to contributebiographical details, as well as providing the soundtrack.
Track Records founders KitLambert and the late-Chris Stamp guidedthe mod-icons through their formative years until the 1970s.Lambert discovered the them whilst making a film about anotheryoung London band and instead decided to focus on the Who's musicalcareer.
Lambert, the son of a classical composer and conductor, firstsaw potential for greater development in rock beyond three-chordpop songs, and drove Townshend to explore deeper musical andlyrical ideas.
However, The Who were forced to fire Lambert in1971 after a variety of failed business dealings and increased druguse. Lambert died at the age of 45 of a cerebral haemorrhage causedby falling down staircase at his mother's house after a night ofheavy drinking.
The film is set to begin shooting in the spring of 2013. Thescreenplay was written by former Mojo magazine editor PatGilbert.
