Sweet guitarist/voclaist, Andy Scott is about to release a brandnew album comprised of various covers by everyone from theYardbirds to the Black Keys, however, in a rather unique twist, each track will be mixed with elements of classic Sweet numbers, reports UltimateClassicRock.

For example, the new version of the Ramones 'Blitzkrieg Bop' hasbeen mixed with samples from Sweet's 'Ballroom Blitz,' and a takeon Hello's 'Back In The New York Groove' (made famous by AceFrehely) features samples from Jay-Z's 'Empire State Of Mind' alongwith a number of other Sweet references.

"When people hear that one in particular, often they have asolitary word: 'Wow!'" says Scott proudly.

The album, 'New York Connection', takes its name after a Sweettrack recorded in 1971 and will be available from April27.
